Obituary South Australian Register Friday 24th June, 1851 -
Clare June 23rd
Mr. William Kerr, storekeeper, died here last Thursday. The deceased gentleman established the first store in Clare some 10 years ago and has ever since been highly esteemed as an enterprising and perservering gentleman. A numerous company of friends and relations followed his remains to their last resting place on Saturday and a tribute of respect to his memory was advanced by the suspension of business and by closing the stores, etc. during a part of the day.
