John Thomas married Jane Rodda in 1840.
The family appear in Gwithian, Cornwall in the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census before disappearing in the 1871 census. It is suspected that around 1870 John and Jane Thomas (nee Rodda) left Cornwall with their family including son John b. 1842 (plus his new wife Alice Bowden) and son Joseph b.1858 and daughter Johanna b.1864 to work at the copper mines of Moonta.
