Mr. William Nicolle, who died on Sunday at the age of 68 at the residence of his son Mr. H. Ivor Nicolle at Gaza, was a well known farmer of the southern districts and an enthusiastic supporter of the Sturt Football Club. Mr. Nicolle attended the match on the Unley Oval on Sunday afternoon between Sturt and North Adelaide and when he returned to his son's home complained that we was not well. It is believed that the excitement of the match affected Mr. Nicolle who suffered from heart trouble. Fire at Clarendon
Narow escape of four Children
Clarendon 31 January 1895
Whilst Mr William Nicolle, of Cherry Gardens, was attending entertainment last night a fire broke out in an outhouse.
The flames consumed the building and its contents, which comprised tools and farm and garden implements. A ten-ton
stack of hay was also burnt. A dwelling in which three children and a lad were sleeping at the time had a miraculous escape.
One Hundred and fifty pounds will not cover the damage. Much sympathy is felt for Mr Nicolle
