FROM THE ADELAIDE ADVERTISER:
Evidence on a fatal accident involving the deaths of two pedestrians at St. Mary's on November 16 1958 was given before the City Coroner (Mr.T.E. Cleland) yesterday.
Elsie Jean Nicolle, 51, saleswoman, of Woodley road, Blackwood, and Frederick John Voege, 36, bank officer, of Croydon road, Keswick, died in the crash.
A car, travelling south on South road, struck them both at about 12.30a.m. near South road's junction with Dunorlan road and Marion street.
An hour after this accident, Samuel James Matthews, of Macklin Street, Sturt, and MTC F. Turner, of Wingfield street, Clovelly Park, were struck by another car while standing at the scene.
Matthews, driver of the car which struck the dead man and woman, hobbled into the Coroner's court yesterday on crutches, and with his right leg and foot in plaster. He declined to give evidence.
The coroner adjourned the inquest for announcement of his finding on
a date to be fixed.
