The Register (Adelaide, SA : 1901 - 1929) Friday 10 October 1913 p 3 ArticleKANGARILLA, October 9.β An interesting and enjoyable social was held in the Temperance Hall on Tuesday evening to celebrate the eightieth anniversary of the birthday of Mrs. M. A. Nicolle, widow of the late Mr. William Nicolle, of Kangarilla. The function was arranged by some of the children and grandchildren of the guest. Mr. and Mrs. Nicolle were both born in Guernsey, and
were married on January 15, 1854. They came to Australia 59 years ago in the ship Fortune, and settled at Reedbeds for a time. They subsequently removed to Cherry Gardens, Clarendon, and afterwards to Kangarilla, where Mr. Nicolle died in 1901. A good programme of musical and elocutionary items was provided by the relatives. One item, by Master Dudley Nicolle, great grandchild, was much appreciated. Musical items were contributed by Misses D. Smart, Dorothy and Ivy Nicolle, and Messrs. S. L. M., and J. Nicolle, and recitations by Mrs. W. Nicolle and Misses Dorothy and Dudley Nicolle, and a dialogue by Arnold, Archie, Blanche, and Ivy Nicolle. A supper followed.
